thecodecowboy
Hi, I am using the Apple.OS.X.x86.10.4.Generic.Install.DVD. image to try and install osx on vmware (I dont want to install it natively as I only need it for Mac browser testing). I get to this screen and there is no drive to choose to install to: http://testing.loopfruit.co.uk/osx.jpg I have allocated an 8GB virtual IDE device for the install and you can see this in the MacOS disk utility but it doesnt appear as an option for the install - I therefore cant go any further. Anyone have any idea why this is happening / how to resolve this? Many thanks, lukemack. Zeph
I think VMWare creates a SCSI disk by default, sure you specified IDE? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4453-generic-dvd-install-on-vmware/#findComment-28457 Share on other sites
thecodecowboy
yep - i figured it out. you have to use the disk utility to create a partition on the VMware drive. the installation is running now lukemack. thecodecowboy
everything is now installed in VMware - including the Maxxuss Network driver which works fine - I can browse the web using Safari. woo! i'll add my experience to 'successes' when I've sorted the following problem: I've been doing some reading on updating to 10.4.3. The only reason I need to do this is to get the latest version of Safari which I think needs at least 10.4.2. do you /does anyone know of a simple way to patch the OS to 10.4.3? It seems there are some patches that will add some enhancements but is there a way to update the kernel yet? If not, is anyone working on this? or is there a workaround for getting the latest safari version installed? many thanks, lukemack.
