jesphoto Posted March 7, 2007 Share Posted March 7, 2007 I read a strong words against downloading OS.We are living of a world of faste technology change.What was good 6month ago become absolite.The paychek still some. I have HP Pavilon(dv9008nr) and I am using XP because of some software I have to use and are not available in Unix based distro.I would like to ask a serious question -what it is wrong with the concept of shareware.Try before you buy. Because of that concept I spend a lot of money on software I really like and performed good. Yes.Apple spend a lot of money to develop OS X and they will be able to make more if we all could evaulate freely the OS and see if work on current hardware.There is absolutely no harm done to Apple while we are evaulating(read: attempt to run OS on some strange hardware). If I could successfully install and run this OS - you bet your butt that I will purchase a licence. Apple - do not get upset that we are experimenting with this OS.You get free beta testing and possibility of making of more money. Hell,you my even kick Microsoft butt.Thank you. Gates found out that long time ago and made a fortune selling OS and software.Apple trying to get into Microsoft bussiness -I would. I repeat again -we all are evaulating a piece of software - not a stealing.If I have a Apple software and download a software for that computer and do not pay for licence - yes that will be stealing. What we all are dealing with it is software not design for hardware we have and we are trying to make it work. I do not have Apple computer. What I have it is HP Pavilon dv9008nr and experimenting with knowing that there it is slim chance that I will ever mak it working. That it is not stealin. That is doing a Apple favor. I will not be supprise if Apple will start relising patches for another hardware. They will make more money by selling OS and other software. Don't delude yourself, you are thieving scum -same as the rest of us Apple doesn't need our help to make things work, if they wanted to they could release a version of os that would work perfectly on bios boxes already. It just would be a really stupid business decision. If anyone thinks it's that easy to make an OS that works "perfectly" on a wide variety of machines, than I would understand why they would blame Microsoft for any and all Windows problems that crop up. Supporting the massive amount of hardware that is out there and getting it all to work together is HARD. If Apple tried to do that, you would suddenly find out just how hard. jesphoto Posted March 9, 2007 Author Share Posted March 9, 2007 Experimenting it is a key to understanding.If people will not experiment with something we will be still trowing a sticks and stones at each other(I personally preffer that over nuke).The reason Apple relised this version OS to give Mac users accsess to Microsoft software.It was decision to "go with the flow or die". Yes.Vista have a problems, but so the win2000 when come out and XP.I wait in line when Warp come out.Spend over a $100 bucks for and could not give away 2 weeks latter.Trash can. Windows ME was a bummer too.Vista 64 on my computer works fine, just not enough software at this time. When I bought my 32bit motherboard I was still running 16bit software.Vista will kill Mac and Apple saw this.Wise bussiness decision. It is easy to write OS and other software for properiaty hardware (like another user said), but with PC more difficult. I am not complaining about the Microsoft, just want to see if I can make work a Mac on my laptop. If Apple feel so strong - why they made OS for Intel? But if you do that with a pure software company like M$, were the main profit comes from software, then yeah, they will probably wont be very happy. I disagree. I installed MacOSX on a PC and everythings works flawlessly. I compared my system to an Intel Mac Pro and the difference is quite neglectable apart from the obvious lack of beauty of my PC box. I even got my ancient wacom serial port tablet and old USB scanner working in OSX. That's nothing to snear at my friend. Bottom line: you can build a near 100% compatible macintosh PC and will never notice the speed difference. Everything else is just a matter of taste, IMHO. And your point about XP64 outrunning a mac any day is quite debatable. The speed of an application depends on many aspects and not just the underlying OS. Also, just because you use a 64 bit system, doesn't mean you're faster. It only means that you have a more ample memory range, which only very few applications make use of. The only things obviously running faster on Windows boxes are games but that only because they were specifically developed for that platform. Everything else is just a matter of taste, IMHO. The only speed difference is in the opposite direction. My hackintosh is beating out my friend's Mac Pro in many different applications. Not to mention Photoshop and others process much faster under Windows XP than OSX on my computer or his.
