I have a core 2 duo (conroe)e6300(sse3) on an Asus p5bw-la mobo(from hp)--p965 chipset. The machine is a pre-built hp w/ 2 gb ram. Mobo has no ide, sata only, including dvd drive. I have JaS 10.4.8 install disk that works on other machines, as well as a deadmoo image ready to go. I tried to boot off the install disk(with and w/o -v) and it starts working, but then gets stuck at "still waiting for root device" which is printed multiple times without change; it has not gone past this stage. I have tried to boot linux on this machine before, and have encountered difficulty in the boot routine. I have a feeling the mobo has something to prevent the creation/use of ramfs and that this is inhibiting the live cd routine of the jas disk. I have not tried the deadmoo image install, but will be doing it on a sata hd in the next few hours. Does anybody know how i can use the jas dvd, or if i will have to use a different host pc to use it? Also, does anybody know if there will be other hardware compatibility issues with the mobo in question?
