noptuno Posted March 5, 2007 Share Posted March 5, 2007 Okay so I have the ATi Radeon x300/x550 series and i have the "JaS.Mac.OS.X.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.PPF.1.Defiant.diskutil.biker880.ich -R.patch.Integrated" installed in my spare HDD SATA Seagate 250GB and the problem is that is installed but when i was going to boot it, it didnt go to the GUI interfaces(windows and other visual graphics) and I boot up with verbose mode and the boot thinks I have an ati x300(5460). Which I dont... still I have an image so you can see what it says and you guys hopefully can tell me how to fix it... -the final line says at the end "login window application started" PS: Ive been searching for two days now for this problem and havent got no answer to it just a bunch of links and stuff that might fix it but hard to understand for a NEWB lool, this things are: - changing the kernel version(but how if I cant even see where im going on mac cause it wont load my video card) -okay i forgot the other ones.... i think they were like scripts to change to the iso, that i dont even know how to do it(was suppose to be with ppf-o-matic. and alot of other things.... acidnine Posted March 6, 2007 Share Posted March 6, 2007 I think your problem is that when you selected the packages in the installation. Select only the ones you need, it looks like you tried to install some NVIDIA drivers, try that and let me know how it goes. acidnine Posted March 6, 2007 Share Posted March 6, 2007 In JaS's 10.4.8 DVD the installation is a little more detailed than previous releases, you will pretty much need to know what hardware you have and select it in the install "Extra Packages", otherwise you will have a broken install. Sec: so youre saying i need to install only the drivers for my hardware? that if I have some other drivers wondering around, can make my machine mallfunction? -EDIT: I did what you said still doesnt doing the trick, my monitor keeps on, but the signal of the card goes away, cause the monitor goes to standby cause it doesnt have signal... Anyways a question, what is X11 software or something??.... palojoe Posted March 8, 2007 Share Posted March 8, 2007 well I`m using a Radeon X300 PCI-e card and had the same problem using 10.4.8 JAS 10.4.8 Kernel 8.8.1,..so I just installed it without the any video patch,..and it worked but cant run any appz , because of the card doenst get recognize so i`m buying a ATI X1600 XT PCI -e and use a nativ or boris patch to see if its going to work,..... noptuno Posted March 11, 2007 Author Share Posted March 11, 2007 Man I just installed MacOSX without installing any card driver and it registered the card with dev id and all its info, and ofcourse with QE and CI ENABLED!!! just it has some mouse tearing but i can work with it... I doesnt bother the user hehe anyways thancks for everyone that tried to help. Now my new concerns are sound and wireless! hehe going to research some more on that!
