Lenovo 11a/b/g(atheros) OSX86-Yes! XP-Help!

Hi,

I've been slamming my head against this for three very long days.(waving white flag...).

 

First, the Lenovo 11a/b/g MiniPCI Express Atheros 5006-based cards works perfectly in my Asus G1, under 10.4.7 w/ the 10.4.5 .kext. No other changes necessary. WPA, the works.

Second, it works under Vista Ultimate with ms drivers, no problems.

Third, I cannot get this card to start under XP Pro. Code 10.

 

Here's what I did.

After replacing the 3945 w/ the atheros, nothing I could do, 50 driver removals/reinstalls, etc. would get the card to fire up under XP Pro.

 

So,

 

1. Create a new partion & install XP Pro SP2 AND NOTHING ELSE(no drivers of any kind). Imaged the partition for backup.

2. Create retore point.

3. tried every driver variant I could find, including hacking inf's to match dev's & subsys's, restoring to bare metal config after each. I tried the Bootcamp inf, the Gigabyte, of course Lenovo, etc. etc.

 

If I sound desperate, I am. I need XP for work. I'm so close, & it felt reeeel gooood when when my hac hooked up with the AP, wpa, mac filtering & all. Rumour has it that this card is far superior to the 3945, which doesn't work under OSX86 anyway. My only other choice is to trade down to the Dell card, which is supposedly nothing special, but at least it should work in OSX/Win/Linux.

 

What would be helpful to me is to know whether anyone has gotten the Lenovo minipci express 11a/b/g to work under XP Pro in SOMETHING BESIDES A THINKPAD. (I'm wondering if it's "crippled", whatever...) If so & you can point me toward a workable driver hack for my G1, I'm gonna owe you a few beers...

 

The G1, while otherwise an excellent lappy, has what is honestly the saddest excuse for CMOS setup I have EVER seen, and I've been in IT for 22 years. It may well be that there is something that needs to be configured in the PCI express slot, & I have no way of checking/changing ANYTHING, besides the date & some basic ide/usb {censored}, etc. This sux. My head is ready to explode. /rant Off
