naplo
Hi, I want to buy a low price notebook for about 700$ (600€) and run Hackintosh on it. Know I want to ask you which notebook would work best (or at least good) with Hackintosh. I thought of a Lenovo 3000 C200 but it isn't listet in the wiki yet! Do you think it will work fine? Ferret-Simpson
Take specs. Compare with chips that are suggested working. Pray. Basically, most intel GMA950 based notebooks will work to a certain extent: The processor will be supported. The chipset will be supported. The sound has a good chance of partial support with Taruga. The Intel Extreme Graphics are well supported. If it uses the intel integrated ICH7-M controller, SATA will be supported. PATA has about an 80% chance of being supported. Intel Wireless (centrino) chips do not work, but can normally be replaced easily, Ethernet may or may not work. Try it and see. Cardbus may or may not work. Try it and see. Bluetooth will work. Integrated Memory Card readers will probably not work. Multimedia/Function panels will probably not work. Modem will probably not work. USB should work. Firefire/iLink/IEEE1394 should work. Keyboard and mouse should work. APM should work with new PowerManagement bundle. naplo
Isn't there any chance of getting the Intel Centrino to work with some other drivers? The same question for the cardreader... Other question would be the power management. Is the battery working longer with Hackintosh or not? Ferret-Simpson
Speedstep works on some models saving battery life, but on others, the thing just runs full tilt. Can't turn the backlight down either. I'd say OS X works fine, but doesn't last quite as long, although it's only a matter of 4/5 hours. THERE IS NO WORKING DRIVER FOR INTEL WIRELESS. Partially working from a code point of view, but nonfunctional for use. Easier just to spend £30 on a new card. naplo
And what do you think of the compatibility with this notebook? http://www.averatec.de/archiv/a_s4300_tech.htm Sorry for the german page, but on the international this model isn't presented... The CPU and the graficchip should work without problems I think. And the W-Lan is not Centrino, so maybe it will work or?! naplo
I now ordered the Lenovo 3000 N100 for 850€ (that are about 1130$) and I hope that I won't have too much compatibility issues. I have some points I think about: -The N100 has a Nvidia Go 7300 graphiccard. Is there a well-working driver available for osx? -Is the "Intel 2915 a/b/g WLAN" only an older Version of "Intel 3945 a/b/g WLAN"? Is it working with the drivers for 3945? (I heard there are some beta drivers available or at least in developement) -Is the display with 1680x1050 pixel supportet with Mac OSX? -Is there a chance that the Lenovo Touchpad is working correctly? I heard that the Touchpad are often problematic. But I think thats one of the most important things, so I would like to get it working...
