alarustic
I bought myself a real Apple USB keyboard. I plugged it in and it works no problem on my osx86 machine, which is just Dell Otiplex. The problem is when remove my old PS2 keyboard and switch on - my machine won't connect to my network for some reason. It sounds totally strange to me, but I've tried restarting numerous times with/without each keyboard and that's what is happening! If I boot with the USB keyboard alone it won't use DHCP to pick up a real IP address on my network, ie 192.168.1.200 instead it's getting 169.22.64.71 or such like! Any help with anything I can try, please? It's a stange one! I'm using 10.4.8 at the moment. Thanks. frizbot
Thats really odd. I'm not sure what to suggest. Try disabling PS/2 in BIOS if thats possible. I'd suggest not using DHCP and assigning an IP manually if you can -- more work now, but it makes life easier later, and it could fix the problem. Maybe take back the Apple keyboard and stick to PS/2 with your motherboard. Very odd. hecker
Try disabling PS/2 in your BIOS. Or, if you have a PS/2 mouse, then you'll have to leave the PS/2 keyboard in since (I've read) OSX doesn't seem to work when mixing PS/2 and USB keyboards and mice. hecker Edited March 2, 2007 by hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44005-unplug-ps2-keyboard-no-internet/#findComment-314955 Share on other sites
macgirl
If you don't use your PS2 ports you can delete the kexts, also check this: [How To] Solutions for Keyboards, Trackpads & Mice Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44005-unplug-ps2-keyboard-no-internet/#findComment-315033 Share on other sites
global_dev
I am using PS2 keyboard and usb mouse and no issues in 10.4.8 8.8.1. I installed with a PS2 mouse and just recently bought a USB mouse and just unplugged mouse and installed USB dongle.
