I've installed Tiger 10.4.1 (leaked dvd install with bender release 1) on my PC.

Then added 10.4.2 and 0.5c maxxuss patches. Also applied 10.4.3 update.

I'm trying to configure my ASUS wl-167 usb wireless wifi stick. I've downloaded the Ralink software from http://www.ralinktech.com/supp-1.htm. Successfully installed, my usb Wifi was recognized, and i could successfully connect to my wireless router. BUT it seems that DHCP is not working, as i refresh the DHCP IP in system preference -> Network, it gives a wrong IP. I also tried to configure IP manually but without success.

Im really stuck with this issue. Could some help me please?

:)

Unfortunately the Ralink driver is still unreliable for some: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...l=ralink&st=140

Sometimes it helps to use a different router (perhaps one with a different chipset).

There are only two working wireless chipsets, the Broadcom(Airport compatible) or the Ralink.

I am also using the ASUS wlg-167 usb.

First i was not able to connect to the Wlan router, but I changed the channel to a lower number and everything worked for me.

The are only a small issue left. I must replugin the ASUS usb wlan adapter after boot. The Ralink software doesnt recognize it though it is shown in system profiler.

I'm able to connect to my wireless router, and i see the connection on the router administration interface. But the problem is that DHCP seems to be not working, in mac os X x86 i can't get a valid ip address. Something strange cause i can see in the router the IP adress that has been assigned to my computer. But i don't get it on my mac intel pc by dhcp or even by manually configuring it, it's simply not working. I've tried a ping command, but not sucessful.

Could it maybe be related to the router that i'm using?

Which one are you using? With DHCP?

My router is a D-Link DL-514 // WEP 128bit enabled // DHCP enabled

I dont think its the router in generall. Something in config may be.

Are you using any encryption(WEP or WPA) ?

Look for Network Config Util under System Preferences. Dont know if its so called exactly. There are options where yu can choose eth0 or eth1 and so on. Choose eth1 for example if eth0 is your onboard nic and enable DHCP. You should see after seconds your new IP. If not, look for correct encryption configuration in the ralink tool.

Cant look on my system and describe more, I am at work ;-)

Well I'm actually on a training course :)

In the system preference, under network I've choose to use en1, but when I select renew IP via DHCP stuff, it simply doesn't work. I get a wrong IP. I use WEP 128 bits encryption with DHCP enabled, and I think it's working correctly cause I can connect successfully to my wireless lan. My problem is that I can't go to the internet, or even ping my router.

Something has to be wrong with the IP assignation from my router to my wireless card. Because when i look at the router, i can see the mac address of my wireless card and it has a good IP adress assigned to it but it seems it is not transmitted to my wireless card correctly. Dunno why??

:P
