riojones
Hi all, I am having a strange problem using Disk Utility to convert my FAT32 (DOS) into HF+. I'm using an ASUS F3JP laptop and have partitioned my hard drive using Partition Magic as follows: (1) Recovery partition (primary); (2) FAT32 (primary) and WinXP boots off this; (3) NTFS (logical) there is nothing on here as it is a spot for Vista when I get it; (4) FAT32 (Dos) - I created this partition using Partition Magic and Mac OS X will be installed here. Now, I boot off the install CD, run Disk Utility. Select partition (4), select Mac Extended (Journalised) and hit the erase button. It processes a bit, then says mounting image, but nothing else happens. Then going back to look a the file type of partition (4), it has changed from FAT32 (Dos) to 'WINDOWS_FAT_32'?? Can someone please advise what is going on? I note that in looking in the Info for partition (4), it says: "Can be Formatted: No;" Kind regards, Rio Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43854-format-for-mac-ex-journal-turns-into-wfat32/ Share on other sites

Then go into disk util and select the partition it will be grayed out with a name like disk0s4 then click erase.
