Topuz
Hi guys, you have a really nice community here. I am really sick of Windows, tried everything to make it work as it should, even tried {censored} Vista, but that's even worse. So I want to do something radical. I have downloaded Mac OS X 10.4.8 JaS AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3 with PPF1 and I want to give it a try, but I am totaly unexpirienced with installing OS X on PC. I have: DFI LanParty UT nForce4 Ultra-D S939 AMD Athlon64 3200+ Winchester (SSE2 only) 2x512MB DDR400 nVidia GeForce 7900GTO Now, is it worth trying to install Mac on this at all? If it is, would you give me some advices for the start? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43853-worth-trying-or-not/ Share on other sites
hecker
Check the compatibility list here: http://wiki.osx86project.org I took a quick look and it seems your system would be OK except for USB: Both IDE & SATA working, ALC850 on-board audio works, Both NICs work (Marvell & Nvidia), USB has to be plugged in after its booted. Do you want to dual boot with windows or just OSX? What HDD are you using? SATA or IDE? hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43853-worth-trying-or-not/#findComment-313606 Share on other sites
xgportal
Listen, first of all, congrats on your descision, its the best you could ever make ;-) secondly, the best thing you can do is try to sell your pc and get something really kickass for a very low price, here's what I did at a total cost of more or less 500 euro's. Took out all the things i can still use like HDD, monitor and ram Got me the following stuff ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe = 200 Euro Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86 Ghz clocked to 2.34 Ghz = 180 Euros 2 x 1 Gb PC-4200 DDRII 533Mhz = 140 Euros and I put in an old 6800 Ultra I still had. And installed the version you have. Downloaded some of the neat patches here on the forum for sound etc, although it runs natively, but its more for the SATA nforce4 thing, the NforceATA.kext and the AzaliaAudio.pkg you can also download here on the forum. My system is running like a beast!! really, its the best setup I've had in years. Never crashes, runs all the Universal Binaries etc. I'm currently saving up for an iMac 24inch version cos damn man, what a feeling when I was at the apple store!! Hope this helps a bit. Cheers.
