I've been trying to install the 10.4.8 release with the disk util patches and everything, but each time it starts installing i.e. when I have selected everything and the installer starts to copy files. I've tried burning three different dvds and have tried installing atleast a dozen times but it freezes while copying files. It doesn;t freeze at the same position every time.

What could be the problem, please help me out.

I borrow this thread, I have the exact same problem!

I have tried both 4 diferent versions now of the osx86 release, 10.4.6 (Myz and JaS) and 10.4.8 (JaS and TubeGirl/AMD-dvd)

Anyway. I get into the installation, but it freezes while installing. Often very early in the process but sometimes it goes to 50-70% of the installation and then just stops. The graphics keeps showing and windows are movable but its like the cd stops responding.

I have also done two succesfull installations, and when its sucessfull the installation goes fast and gets through easily.

My specs are (working according to HCL)

AMD 3800+ Venice

MSI K8N Neo-4

Geforce 6800GS

IDE harddrive

I thought that the harddrive was to hot at first, and cooled it down, as it would be a typical error if the harddrive stops responding.

Now I am thinking is more a CD-error of some kind. I also get all kinds of wierd errors, from time to time, completely out of nowhere!

At once try I can have SATA enabled in bios and the installation boots fine, but in another try I might get the IOATA blocking bus error, even though nothing have changed, isnt that WIERD?

I have burned all copies on DVD+R, could DVD-R do any difference?

I am also thinking of changing cd/dvd-reader.

any suggestions?
