I have no idea what is going wrong. I am a nuubzorr to the max. I am trying to do a vmware to native installation (because I don't have a dvd-burner). I have a Dell Inspirion e1405 (laptop) with an intel core solo t1350, which I've found conflicting information on about whether it has SSE3, but from what I understand it does. According to the wiki I have one of the best compatible laptops for osx86. I am using JaS.10.4.8.SSE3.Intel.Only. I selected winnt as the guest because it was mentioned to work in the wiki. I am using independant-persistant disks and everything mentioned. The result is the same with an emulated disk. Is the problem my computer? or vmware? with this release?

PS- I've seen reports about "bad" jas10.4.8 seeds, but I checked my md5sums and I have the reseeded version.

When I try to start the VM I get this:

"I am a nuubzorr to the max. " No. Kidding. You're also clearly 12.

Anyway, have you considered abandoning VMWARE and just running natively? the Gparted livecd can resize your windows drive to give you a little free space for the OS X partition. It'll be faster too.

Is it not okay to use a little bit of humor to make up for my self-consciousness about being new? If you were actually trying to help me and not simply throw a reply together as fast as you could to ridicule me, you would have noticed that I do not have a DVD-burner at the moment, and therefore VMware is my only option. Further detail shows that I am doing a VMware-to-native install, where the VMware is just used to install. Also, for the record, I already HAVE used the gparted livecd to resize my C: drive. (That's /dev/sda1 for you "intelligent" people.)

Keep on topic, please. Which version of VMWARE are you running? I think, but don't quote me on this, that some VMWARE builds are sketchy at best when using OSX86. Also, could you post what the Mainboard section of CPU-Z has listed? That might be another contributing factor.
