First step is to go to www.google.com type in something like 'OS X x86 Instalation guide' and check the links.

Seriously, I'll tell you a secret, there are HOW TO topics hidden on this forum! :)

have a great time playing hide and seek.

Uncle Google has sent me to here already :)

I have just finished with the installing OS Tiger 10.4.8 on my nx6325 HP/Compaq (AMD Sempron Cpu) so I can tell you about if it may help you. Everything is ok except the sound card and wired ethernet LAN, meanwhile my wifi is fully working as an Airport. Choose the AMD JAS, and that's all, nothing more. I have unsuccessfully try an install with the firewire (1394) support, and decided to shut it down in the bios setup menu. I finaly did not choose a network profile during the installation process.

A/ What to do / overview :

1. Install : JAS + a printer driver and that's all. (deselect the other languages and printer drivers : about 2Go)

2. Change the number of the wifi device (en0 => en1)

======================================================================

B/ HOWTO :

First Become root in a terminal

CHECK that your broadcom id is listed, here : /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext/Contents/Info.plist

* Once browsing the plist navigate to the area where you see

<string>pci14e4,4312</string>

<string>pci14e4,4318</string>

<string>pci14e4,4320</string>

4312 was already set on my nx6325 HP laptop !

TO DO ABSOLUTELY :

#vi /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist

* swap the en0 with en1 for that device + integer set from 0 to 1

* Run disk util and repair perms -> absolutely !!!!

This is exactly what I did on my HP nx laptop, it will probably work on yours. My OS X is running on an external USB HDD : the nx can boot from an USB device (see your setup menu). My "Airported" wifi nic accepts WPA PSK (I just have to unhide my access point SSID to setup and hide it after).

Now, I can surf the Internet, send emails, run Openoffice (requires X11), and it is just a beginning. That is what I did after 3 unsuccessfull tries, I do not say it is the right way, but it works.

Good luck
