riktor
Did you use disk utility to make an Extended Mac Partition? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43430-where-do-i-install-mac/#findComment-310368 Share on other sites
The Baron
You need to boot with Ultimate Boot CD. Then format the desired partition to Free BSD, and set it Active. It will then show up in Disk Utility. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43430-where-do-i-install-mac/#findComment-310369 Share on other sites

riktor
Well if your a noob then you may want to reconsider, but if your dead set on this go in the disk utility and format a partition or drive to OSX Extended. YOU DID READ THE GUIDES ABOUT CREATING A PARTITION OR SETTING UP A DISK DRIVE?? I say this cause I dont want you screwing up your data. riktor
Ok if you dead set on it http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...s#10.4.8_Guides Basically you'll need to resize your current windows partition to free up space, then you will need to use the install DVD to format that space to a OS X format. Are you doing this on a single drive or muliple drives? Are they SATA or IDE? riktor
Ok you have a problem, that Alienware Laptop has SATA only drives which OS X has problems recognizing because of lack of driver support. I dont know if you can install it on that computer without using some sort of VMware. Also your drives are set to RAID 1 which is rare to have a funtional RAID array in OS X. I think your kinda outta luck. was there any reason why you wanted OS X? riktor
Im tired of it too, but even if you did get it installed it wouldn't work well either. I personally know how you feel though I re installed windows on my Area51m Laptop every five weeks for 2 1/2 years while I was going to animation school. adam1972
:censored2: I just started installing "JaS.Mac.OS.X.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.PPF.1.Defiant.diskutil.biker880.ich -R.patch.Integrated" on my M9700... At first it didn't recognize the disk... NOTHING showed up when I was starting the install and it asked me for the disk I was wanting to install to. I started goofing around with the menus up on top of the screen and chose the "Disk Utilities". When I started the disk utilities it showed me my drive on the left side of the screen ( I only have 1 "120 gb" SATA hard drive) and it had been partitioned by my linux "UBUNTU" install I had performed yesterday (talk about a nightmare install). I chose it and it asked me if I wanted to erase it.. I chose the first option option for the type of Mac file system and then I hit "erase".. It completed and I then quit the "disk Utilities" and it returned me to the install... WITH MY DISK AVAILABLE FOR INSTALL!!!! It recognizes it as SATA as well... I'll let ya'll know how it ends up!!!! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43430-where-do-i-install-mac/#findComment-327787 Share on other sites
