My Macbook Pro's 120GB HDD shows up as 111GB, and is partitioned as 81GB Mac/30GB Vista.

Problem is, I'm using up HDD space on this computer faster than I've ever used it before. I've recently started ripping DVDs to my computer with MediaFork, but I'm getting sick of having to connect to my external HDD in order to watch anything.

Which leads me to the question: Can I install Vista on my external HDD? I know it's been done with XP many times, but has anybody accomplished this with Vista? A Google search was inconclusive, yielding only speculative forum topics and some very vague MSDN stuff.

If I can't boot Vista externally, I may just go back to XP. Problem is, I don't actually have an XP license for my Mac, and I'd have to buy one of those. May be easier in the long run just to buy a bigger HDD and clone my old one to it.

I haven't actually tried this myself, but there is supposedly a way.

Mind you, the post there is awfully old, so I don't know if I'd use it. Also, the poster did not really confirm that it worked or not, but he sort of implied it. I tried going through with it today, but then I stopped half way when I figured I'd never use Winblows anyways.
