Hi,

I'm sitting here on a working 10.4.8 install - apart from the fact that when reading or writing to the HDD, my computer pretty much comes to a complete stop. I'm not 100% sure, bet I think it's because i'm using the generic Apple ATA drivers which don't have udma and without udma everything runs very slowly.

Theres a driver here:

but it supposedly doesn't work with 10.4.8 so I was wondering if there was a driver that did. Without UDMA, OS X is really hard to use.

Thanks.

I tried installing one of the drivers which only work for the 10.4.4 kernel, and well, it does only work on the 10.4.4 kernel. Now i'm stuck on an endless "still waiting for root device" loop.

Come on, there are enough ATi chipsets out there for people to have experienced this problem - I can't be the only one.
