Hardware acceleration on nVidia Geforce FX 6200 (256MB)

Hi everyone,

first, thanks so much for the insane amount of effort put by people on this forum.

After installing JaS 10.4.6 then the 10.4.7 update, I got 1024x768 resolution on a 1680x1050 monitor. Then I installed Macvidia drivers, that took care of this problem.

Now running at 1680x1050 and video does not crash (major improvement from 10.4.6).

However, videos are very choppy, animations are slow, and no way I could get hardware acceleration for video playback. Are there any alternative ways to get the OS to take full advantage of the graphics card?

Your best bet would be to upgrade to 10.4.8, with the latest 8.8.1 kernel, then install Titan or Natit, or NVidiaEFI. Look around for instructions; I think the lower 6XXX series works totally. o.O;
