mlmorg Posted February 18, 2007 Share Posted February 18, 2007 Hey all, I've noticed in Safari that when I am watching a video (youtube or google vid etc.) and the safari window is focused, the video plays perfectly fine. When something else is focused, however, the video is very choppy. For example, if I have safari in the background and ichat in the foreground and ichat is focused, then safari videos are choppy. Also, if safari is focused and I use expose the video is still fine. If ichat is focused and I do expose it's choppy. VLC vids, etc. are fine when not focused. OldScho0l Posted February 18, 2007 Share Posted February 18, 2007 I'm having the same problem. The video plays fine for about the first 2-4 seconds, then freezes. Also, Google Earth is extremely slow and virtualy un-usable. I'm a new-b to this whole PC-Mac scene, so please go easy on me. The OS seems to run great with the exception of online videos, screen savers, and google Earth. I don't know how to tell if I am missing some important patches or anything. I do know the I can only boot into the OS by using the -x command and when it gets almost into the gui, it see's that I have a Geforce 6800 and seems to use it. My Specs: Intel Pentium 4 3.0c Northwood 1 Gig Corsair Dual Channel TwinX DDR BFG 6800 GT 256 MB -- Connected to Samsung SyncMaster 215TW @ 1680x1050 60Hz Millions of colors PATA HDD 30 GB MSI 875P Neo Mobo CPU, GPU, Mobo are all liquid cooled I also had the problem of not being able to reboot or shutdown, but switching the HDD to the Primary Master solved that issue for me. mlmorg Posted February 18, 2007 Author Share Posted February 18, 2007 I think your problem is different from mine. Yours seems like a video card issue...do you have qe and ci working? My screensavers, google, vlc vids, etc. all work fine. My only problem is online videos when safari is not focused. My video card has full qe/ci support, yours probably doesn't. You probably need to install titan or something. But can anyone help me out with my problem? Has anyone had this problem with safari and online videos being a little choppy when the findow is not focused, but some other program is focused?
