Juicejam
Please help me, I am lost! I installed Bootcamp on my I-Mac but at startup it usually goes straight into Windows without asking me to select which o/s I want. I think I messed up at installation (lost some of my kid's birthday party pics in the process too). It's never been a problem for me before as I was using XP exclusively on the IMac. I find Apple runs Windows better than any PC I've had. Problem has now arisen in that I seem to have a Windows virus and at startup I cant get past the XP startup screen. It just loops into Windows safe mode and then restarts the machine. How do I get past this? I have the IMac OSX reinstallation disks. Thanks in advance for your help. Korrupted
Hold down option/alt while booting up, and a list of your startup disks should appear. Use the arrow keys to select which one you want and press enter. Korrupted
Try booting off the Mac install disk to see if Disk Utility is seeing both of your partitions. If it does, try using the Startup Disk app to choose your Mac partition from there, to get back into Mac. Juicejam
Thanks. Was able to get it to boot off the install disk and then I re-installed OSX. Only thing is I had to reformat the HD but at least the machine is back up and running. I will try the updated version of bootcamp now and I will make sure I update Windows XP with all the patches this time to avoid any kind of malware. Back to square one but at least my kids can surf the web again...
