hecker
Most applications can be copied via drag-and-drop to whatever location you want in MacOSX. Only apps with auto-install functions (why they even create those is beyond me) may fail if you don't have the option to choose the installation directory. Office 2004, for example, has certain issues when files are not where the app expect them to be (what a surprise). Cheers, hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42695-applications-on-separate-drive/#findComment-305308 Share on other sites
pixtor
Hehe thx!.. perhaps applications that perform system-wide changes require installation-scripts and have to be installed in the root because, well unix has a way of expecting things to be where they 'ought' to be as decided 30 years ago btw.. another question.. is there a way to change the keyboard layout so it matches my standard-pc shifted keys? it's probably here somewhere in the forum anyways but .. since you were so kind I thought "what the heck!.. let's use this guy " cheers! hecker
You can modify your "modifier-keys" if you open your system preferences pane and go to Keyboard&Mouse. Select keyboard and press the modifier-keys button. There you can change ctrl, alt, capslock, etc. If what you want is to assign a complete new layout map to your keyboard, go to your system preferences pane and select "international". hecker PS: Do this simple trick to view the layout of your keyboard on your screen: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click International. Click Input Menu, then select the checkbox next to Keyboard Viewer. Select the On checkbox next to the language whose keyboard layout you want to use. Choose Show Keyboard Viewer from the Input menu on the right side of the menu bar (the one that looks like a flag). To see the keyboard layout for a different language, choose its keyboard layout from the Input menu. pixtor
Great tips! Thx! Now I see where all my keys went !... But I still have one problem!..I am not able to locate my '{ }' keys. I'm using the swedish PRO layout (tried the non-PRO as well, but I don't really notice the difference in... "proffesionalism" between them. Help will be greatly appreciated!... It is kinda difficult to code anything without those keys p.s: I also looked at the american layouts. those keys aren't to be found there either .. weird. hecker
Did you set your layout to Swedish and did you turn on the Keyboard Viewer? You should be able to visually locate every key on your keyboard. If you keep the apple key pressed, you will see all the other "missing" keys. Also try pressing the alt key. hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42695-applications-on-separate-drive/#findComment-305453 Share on other sites

And btw. how come I can't delete stuff of harddrives by just pressing the 'delete'-key? Thx for the replies! cheers!
