Hello, I have a 15 inch (dell inspiron 6000), and it's resolution is 1280x800, but when I installed 10.4.8 Intel.AMD JAS, it is only at 1024x768, I saw a webpage on wiki.osx86project.org about changing the com.apple.Boot.plist, I am not sure if I did it correctly, here is what the contents are after I changed it.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple$

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string></string>

<key>Boot Graphics</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>Graphics Mode</key>

<string>1280x800x32</string>

</dict>

</plist>

But it still doesn't work, did I put the graphics mode string in the wrong area? does anyone have any other ideas because having the screen stretched will get really annoying. I also have a radeon mobile x300 if that helps.

Also, has anyone else had the problem of their DVDs not playing? That and while I am at it, does anyone know how to get wireless with the Intel ® PRO/Wireless Network Connection. That is the least of my 3 worries, but any advice is welcome.

thanks for all of your help everyone! It is wonderful to have a service like this, asside from the Linux User Groups I have seen, I have never seen such a great community! Thanks again!

Shawn

Oh, and when I close my lid, i want it to go to sleep, as well as I would like my power bar to show how much battery I have left in the upper right, like macbooks do. Answers to any of these questions would be greatly appreciated. If I can get these fixed, I pretty much have a mac, especially if I can find Radeon x300 mobile drivers. Unfortunetly Natit.uni caused my computer to stall on boot, and so I had to reformat my machine.

Thanks!

Shawn

I think that maybe natit may be for desktop computers? I am not sure, all I know is it stalled out my computer on start up, so I couldn't get back on to use the uinstaller (maybe if I used knoppix to uninstall it), I might be willing to try future releases of it, especially when I know how to archive my current install. Does anyone else have a fix for that?

Actually, I have been trying to play videos in quicktime, VLC, and been trying to play DVDs in the DVD player, all of them crash when trying to play video, so does anyone have an idea to fix video playback? I think video drivers for my card may help.

doing some more research, it appears I just need to upgrade to kernel 8.8.1 for Natit to work as the blank screen has been a problem for versions prior to that, how do I find out what kernal I have now, (I have 10.4.8) and can someone send me a direct link to the upgrade, Natit sounds like the best, so if someone knows a link to kernel 8.8.1, that would be awesome.

P.S. Didn't even see the edit button, thank you very much.

But when I did try to install, I got the blank screen after the apple icon disappeared, maybe I will wait until one more revision after this one, or just give it another try, would this be also why my videos aren't playing? I used to never have trouble with VLC on my old mac but with this it is just black and it crashes. Basically if I do try it and I get the blank screen on start up again, is there a way I can undo it? I know there is an uninstall method, but if I can't get into the GUI I can't access that.

If I could this and my other issues resolved without screwing up the install too much, I will be very pleased. Thanks again,

Shawn

Added: Or for that matter, does anyone have any fixes to any of the other problems I addressed, mainly when I close my screen I want it to sleep, and having the battery bar, I think I figured out how to get the wifi... it is just extremely confusing, so I will have to spend time on that.
