legionX Posted February 15, 2007 Share Posted February 15, 2007 I just started playing around with iWeb, and when I start it up it asks if I want to sign in to .Mac I don't have a .Mac account, nor do I want one. Can I still just use iWeb to design pages? If so, how? I feel I should mention that when I get iWeb open and go to the File menu none of the options are clickable, they're all greyed out. What gives? Andrey Posted February 15, 2007 Share Posted February 15, 2007 I use iWeb without a .Mac account, for both my personal web site hosted through OSX's inbuilt web sharing, and another site for which I export the site in full and upload it using Transmit. sandman32 Posted February 17, 2007 Share Posted February 17, 2007 You definately do not need .mac or any sort of hack to make it work. You use it just like normal but instead of publishing to .mac you publish to a folder on your local machine and then upload that to the server you are using. For instance I use 110mb.com, at first I would create my page in iweb, then zip up the folder I made in iweb, upload the zip folder and extract it using their file manager tool. I design the page in iWeb, "publish" it to the Sites folder in my Home Folder, and then redirect a .co.nr domain (it's free!) to my IP and let Apache host it. Just for kicks, I left the "Made on a Mac" logo in there. http://www.erbic.co.nr It's nothing special; there's not much there. Just proof you don't need .mac for an iWeb site. I tried uploading it through fetch, and now the site just comes up blank.
