King George
(search words: USB stutter stuttering cracking audio sound 10.4.8 hercules muse soundblaster) Hello everyone, If there is no available solution for your onboard-audio, you may want to use an USB-soundcard. Using 10.4.8, the USB audio might also not work out of the box... I tested my system with a Hercules Muse Pocket, some soundblaster USB and a pair of Silvercrest USB speakers. All gave me stuttering and unusable sound if I use a clean installation (just JaS 10.4.8 and the latest semthex kernel). After numerous reinstalls, here's what I found out: the stuttering problem can be solved by just enabling "sigmatel9200 support" during the installation of JaS 10.4.8. Installing with this feature solves the stuttering for ALL MENTIONED devices (and, i think, any other usb-audio) Enabling this may interfere when you later try internal audio solutions, but enabling it seems to be the only simple way to get rid of the stuttering. Just thought I should put this here for those who have the same problem.
