dj_raw
Hello A few days ago i installed OSX from this image: JaS.10.4.8.SSE3.Intel.Only. Installation went smoothly with the semthex 8.8.1 kernel. Also after installation everything seemed to work with both cores, except for the sound and Lan. So i installed titan for my Geforce FX 5500, after that my mouse started lagging hard as hell, so i had to boot with the cpus=1 flag. Then my sound also started to work, well almost, it didn't stuttered anymore. In meantime i managed to get the sound and lan to work perfectly, but i'm still running OSX on one core... Today I tried to boot with the fsb=200, fsb=166 and fsb=133 flags. Still my mouse didn't worked and sound stuttered, but surprisingly my wacom graphic tablet worked. I don't get it why. Is there any solution for the one core problem? Should i try to install other kernels? I tried to install the mifki kernel but then my system didn't even boot, it kept restarting all the time. Is there a newer semthex kernel out? Somebody told me it has something to do with the bios. So should i try to downgrade my bios? My specs: Pentium D 920 Asrock 775-Dual 880Pro with VIA PT880Pro chipset 1GB Ram Geforce FX 5500 Please help if u can. Thanx in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42232-pentium-d-with-both-cores-pls-help/ Share on other sites

dj_raw
well, it could be. But then i don't see the reason why it worked before i installed titan...? dj_raw
Ok, i tried natit out and strange things happen after i installed it. First i got a black screen with the mousepointer turned 90 degrees clockwise but still laggy when i try to move it, then after restarting a couple of times i only get a black screen, no mouse Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42232-pentium-d-with-both-cores-pls-help/#findComment-302585 Share on other sites

errandwolfe
Working with both cores, but again also on a 945 Intel chipset. I know it seems unlikely, but it may have a lot to do with your Via board. I would seek out others with the same board and see if they are having any similar issues. Guest bikedude880
Just to add to the stack of Pentium D dual-cores working fine on 945 chipsets, take a look at my sig. Pentium D 805 and a Pentium D 920. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42232-pentium-d-with-both-cores-pls-help/#findComment-303339 Share on other sites
shavermcspud
I have the same issue with my pentium d 3.0 Ghz on an intel board, not sure which one, but its a prebuilt Compaq presario, on intel components sr1847, so i dont think its just a VIA chipset issue. opieum
Actaully I am using an ECS 945P-A rev 1.1 and I am having a similar problem. But I think I in general my system is just slow. I have a Pentium D 805 with 1GB of Ram. Nvidia 6500 EVGA My system is running slow all over though. Not just the mouse. HJSako
I'm using Asus P5VDC-MX (VIAP4M800 PRO) with Pentium D 915. I had problem like that which I solved in Bios by disabeling ACPI 2.0 support, and I got two cores working. Play with your Bios maybe?
