Hello all,

After much research and help from various people in IRC I finally installed JaS 10.4.8 on my HP DV4000 notebook (Centrino 1.73). The install went smoothly. I already had Vista on the system so I freed up some space, created a new partition, and used the OS X DVD to format the available space to HFS+. Installed OS X then repaired Vista with the Vista DVD.

That's when the problems started. I followed these instruction to setup the Vista Boot loader for dual boot.

12. Reboot into Windows Vista.

13. Copy chain0 to the root of the Vista partition (mostly C:/)

13. Press WIN+R and type ‘cmd’. And type:

bcdedit /copy {current} /d “Mac OS X”

bcdedit /enum active

bcdedit /set {ID OF YOUR OSX ENTRY} PATH \chain0

Once I took these steps I restarted the computer. Vista and OSX now appeared as options, but when I chose OS X the screen went black and then brought up the same Vista boot screen. It just kicks me back to the screen. No error messages, nothing.

I double-checked that the partition was set as Active, I used the chain0 from the Darwin iso, then I tried the one from the JaS iso. Everytime I got the same thing, just black screen for 1/2 a second before it brought me back to the same screen. On the bright side everything is still working in Vista, so I'm not screwed.

Any ideas?????

Thanks in advance.

WIN + R

Then type cmd.

Type DiskPart and hit enter.

then type select disk 0, hit enter afterwards.

Type list partitions

then type select partition (#) <--- where that number is assocated to your Mac OSX drive. HIt enter afterwards

then type Active and hit enter. THis will make the partition you specified the active partition (meaning it will boot from there first).

Type exit, exit to quit diskpart and command prompt. Reboot the computer and your done :)

Remember to add below keys to OS X boot.plist to show darwin boot loader automatically:

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>5</string>

Be aware, after you select Vista in darwin boot loader, the Vista boot loader will show again since you have already set up chain0.
