limini
I've read at least one post here about someone that's using an iHack as a Logic Node. I'm wondering what a minimal hardware setup is required for it to be useful. In priniciple, a Logic Node seems to only provide CPU to the main workstation and if that's true, then a Logic Node basically needs a fast processor and a 1Gbit Lan, and everything else can be minimized. Is this in fact the case? This would in principle make it relatively cheap to build a Logic "Farm" using iHacks. On the other hand, if plugins are actually run on the Nodes, and audio streamed to them, then RAM would become important as well. Does anyone here know exactly how it works? munky
I'd suspect the machines would need fast processors, plenty of fast RAM, fast hard disks and fast ethernet. I guess you can skimp on graphics cards (onboard GMA950 anyone? ) but thats about it.
