tomblat
Folks, this might be a ridiculous question, but am still a new member in Mac community. Are there any plans knows wether Leopard will be a free update to my my Mac OS 10.4 or do Mac users have to buy the new OS? (actually I assume the latter). If it's going to be retail software, any news on the pricing? Thx Tom ps: iMac pro, Intel, 2GB RAM Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42084-leopard-distribution/ Share on other sites
munky
traditionally new OS versions sell for $129, but there are rumors Leopard might cost more (around $199). Adrian Fogge
Given that Apple is already targeting Microsoft's pricing for Vista, I doubt that they would raise the price of Leopard. At $200, it will be at the price that most people will pay for Vista. If anything, I would think that they would add iLife to Leopard (or maybe an iLife Mini) including iMovie, iDVD & iPhoto, leaving out Garageband and iWeb so that everything that Microsoft has added to Vista comes out of the box with Leopard, eliminating one complaint that people could have. Then, they could do a "Buy iLife 07 and get Garageband and iWeb, plus a ton of new themes and effects for use in iMovie, iDVD, and the all new iPhoto Editor (iPhoto plus basic editing ability simmilar to Photoshop Elements). teehee
Also, depending on how recently you bought your mac, you may get a free or discounted copy of leopard. Fizzeh
Normally, you won't get the free/discounted update unless the actual release date has been announced.
