bobmanuk
Wasnt sure whether to have this in hardware secion or here. I decided on here, if im wrong, mods can move. Ok like so many other people i managed to install mac osx86 no problems, comes to reboot it keeps asking to power off the machine in various languages. I installed the intel patches that came with the disk. i can only draw the conclusion that its hardware that is causing it. so if you could i would like to list my hardware and see if anyone can spot anything wrong. I have a pentium D 805 "smithfield" now in the first place i thought it might have been due to the processor being dual core, but after looking at the wiki, it should work fine. especially for the 10.4.6 image i have used motherboard is an abit AW8 (not 3rd eye or max, vanilla AW8) not sure of the chipset on it but after looking on the wiki i cant find it so it could be the problem. thanks in advance. Matty Thinking about it, should have gone in the hardware section... sorry Edited February 10, 2007 by bobmanuk Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41837-osx86-not-booting-possible-hardware-problem/ Share on other sites
Hagar
ok, you need to do the very first step in troubleshooting, just as untold thousands have before.. boot -v & see what is causing you kernel to panic.. as a side note, equally universal & well trodden, make sure you install *only* the patches you specifically need for your hardware.
