ryan91
Hey, here's my situation, I have a Toshiba Sattelite A70-ML1 laptop, and I want to innstall OSX86. I need to install it on a partition. I tried to use a guide I found to do it and got up too intall darwin and that didn't work, so I just gave up then. I would like to use a generic installer to make it easy. But I heard it will only recognize the partition after you use the disk utility to format the disk. I have 1 60gb partition with a 55 gb win xp home and a 5 gig win xp pro, but I have 20 gigs free. Is there a way to install OSX86 without wiping my harddrive. B/c I don't think that thats an option right now ( I have alot of software and special configurations installed) Any help or insight is very appreciated. -Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4182-how-to-triple-boot-non-destructive-install/ Share on other sites
kuruu
use a tool like partition magic or most any other partitioning tool to create a fat32 partition. then use the patched generic dvd to install and erase the fat32 and make it hfs+. this is the standard way and works for most people. other things that can be done are to use diskpart in windows to make it an AF type partition, but if you hardware is compatible for the installer you should be fine. get the release 1 dvd and everything should be done for you... ryan91
So I can format just a single partition instead of the whole drive? and the installer will recognize it? okay sounds good, thanks. So how do I get it to dual boot, just download the file chain0 or do I have to fool around with darwin?
