Hi all, i've successfully installed jas 10.4.8 osx on WMWare, now i'm trying to install it on my pc, in a dedicated partition. So i've burned the iso image with Nero on a blank dvd, but when i boot the system from this dvd, i quickly get the error:

system config file '/com.apple.boot.plist' not found

Any help?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm getting this same error with an MSI 865G motherboard. So I don't think it is the mobo. I think it is a problem with not having the HD partition set correctly to active. Not sure tho. I found another thread here:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=41668

which is the same problem really.

When booting with the CD and choosing F8 I get the 'mac.boot.apple.plist' not found error. Without the CD I get the blinking cursor. Anyone else? Discouraging isn't it?

Anyway, according to Munkey's reply in the above thread, I just need to set the partition active by going into the 'options' area of the disk utility (reachable by starting the install DVD again and when the Jas installer comes up, go to the menu bar and choose 'Utility> Disk Utility)

Only problem is, there is no option for me there to do this....... any ideas anyone?

Thx,

Rational

@Schweppes

Thanks. I'd love to find this "PPF Patch" you're talking about. I've been reading diligently in the Genius Bar section but not finding it as yet. Might you have a quick reference link to grab this patch? BTW, What's PPF stand for, and is it a patch that will patch the ISO for reburning?

I was able to get past my problem with the HD partition not being set active. I did this by low level formatting the HD to kill everything, made a new partition using PM, and set it active and then used the disk utility to format it as MAC OS Journaling. Then did a fresh install.

My newest problem is I'm frozen on bootup on a grey apple logo screen with a circular progress indicator that is frozen. Can you point me in the direction I need to go now? I'm thinking this might have to do with me loading the extra drivers from the installer? Or my Nvidia Geforce 3 Ti200 card?

Thanks All, Wonderful help here.

Heres how I solved it.

1) Deleted OSX partition

2) Made a partition with id=af using diskpart

3) Booted with DVD

4) It worked fine

I feel like this is a problem with the install disk. I've been having the same problem here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry319075. I feel like the patch situation is the best way to get around it, but I haven't tried it yet. Or you could just download a diff. file.

Everyone here had this file in .rar format, right? And you had to unrar? That could be a problem too...if it corrupts.

The working solution is to install osx using the vmware method (search in the forum); it works very well, without patching the iso.

You only need to perform a preliminary step: use the 10.4.7 (or 10.4.6) image on boot in vmware to initialize your hfs partition, since the 10.4.8 diskutil is corrupted (even if it "seems" to work, it will result in a not bootable partition), then mount with daemon tools the 10.4.8 image and install!

guys wat you need to do is find the torrent that has the ppf patch and redirect it to where you image is and rename you image to what the torrent is so if the image you have is called "jas 10.4.8" and the torrent is "jas 10.4.8 ppf patch" <<<your rename it to that and you will only have to download like 300 mb now go search google for the torrent

I am currently setting up my first x86 OSX install and found (from the help of people here!) that x86 OSX hates SATA! I cannot install with my SATA storage drives connected. I have a SATA Pioneer DVD drive and when I try using that I get that same error. I hooked up my old IDE DVD drive and worked like a charm. If you have an IDE drive (HDD and DVD) make sure you try that and disconnect any SATA devices while installing.

I hope that helps... good luck!
