numberonekiwi
I am trying to edit two short clips to play as just one the problem is the audio is not there the file is .mpg but I am unable to open it with Quicktime but can with VLC however there are many ways you can strem the file to a file on the hard disk and by doing this I can get both sound and video in quicktime but still can not get sound in FCP So what I am thinking is that I need another piece of software to professionally convert this file to one which FCP understand and waould like to know what other people are using if they have had this sort of problem
telmac5
MPEG STREAMCLIP is a free utility used to convert M2T and MPG files to Apple Quicktime ( FCP ) and other formats. A lot of people are using it to convert HDV to FCP compatible files. http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
