Guest IanP
Alright, I have seen the other kernel updates and they are all for SSE3. I have the "JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3" version of OS X and want to update the kernal. Is there a kernel update? Where do I get it? How do I install it? Thanks. Guest Koh-i-Noor
I would like to point out a quote (I had already read this): IT DOES NOT WORK WITH...MACOS X 10.4.8 JAS SSE2/SSE3/AMD SSE2/AMD SSE3 I already tried this one anyways...failed. macgirl
It says "MACOS X 10.4.8 JAS SSE2/SSE3/AMD SSE2/AMD SSE3 COMBO UPDATE" thats different than the installation of the DVD of MACOS X 10.4.8 JAS SSE2/SSE3/AMD SSE2/AMD SSE3 Jas made a patched Combo Update and that is very different than the Jas 10.4.8 DVD. If you installed from that DVD and you don't want end with broke system download the kernel yourself and rename it to whatever you want then move it to the root and at boot type the name you chose. Guest Koh-i-Noor
OK, sorry, I am new to kernel updates...but: I booted up with the new kernel again (I knew it was not going to work, I just wanted to see verbose output) Verbose returned something similar to "Failed Instruction: /System/Library/CoreServices/LoginWindow.app/something/something/etc /dev/something Application Terminated Early" or something like that. I booted up using mach_kernel.old, and now my question is (because I forgot) where do I find the old kernel so I can remove the .old from it? It is not in /kernel, nor in root /. Thanks. intrax
If you followed Macgirls' instructions your 'old' kernel would still be in /root and named 'mach_kernel'....if not you fu*&^3cked up...
Guest Koh-i-Noor
So if I boot with "mach_kernel" it will work? Because now I can't even boot with mach_kernel.old.
