NVidia Quadro FX500/600

Hello all,

I am going to apologize if this has been covered before, I have spent the last couple of days searching these forums for an answer, and maybe I missed it, but for the life of me couldn't find it.

My set-up thats giving me a problem:

Dell Precision Workstation 360.. :-P

It has a NVidia Quadro FX600 in it, with both a DVI and VGA connection. I can get the screen to appear on both outputs, but not at the same time. When I have both monitors plugged in, the machine boots off of the first one, and when OS X loads, it moves to the second output. When I go into system properties > Displays it only sees the one Dell 2007 LCD.I have the Natin Drivers installed, with the Dual Display support, and when I look under the System Profiler, under the Display/Graphics, I can see that it can support two displays, but I cant get it to recognize the other display.

My question, after all that, can it only display out of DVI ports? I have a Dell Precision 370 that I am trying to get installed, but 10.4.8 doesn't like it, no matter what options I use/dont use on the customization install... It has a NVidia Quadro FX1500, which is a dual DVI video card.

Thanks for the help. :-)

Thanks for the replay macgirl.

I did what that post said, and now when the machine boots I get the Out of range signal error on my LCD. It says to change it to 1600x1200@60Hz.

I had this problem a long time ago, and had a fix for it, knowing that OS X actually was booted, and that I could change the resolution by:

1. Moving the mouse cursor all the way up to the top left of the screen and left clicking

2. hitting the down arrow 4 times and hitting enter

3. Typing "displays" (no quotes) and hitting enter

4. for the 8.8.1 kernel (10.4.8) hitting enter at the extra screen that pops up ere

5. hitting TAB once

6. then hitting the up and down arrows until a resolution/sync rate that my LCD could support came up.

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work anymore... Is there any other way to get around this?

Also, FWIT, I was trying to get OS X running on a Dell Precision 370 that has a GeForce FX1400 (Dual DVI) and it wont boot at all with the jAS 10.4.8 disk with Nitan Support. I can install it without this, but then get this same Out of signal range error.

Any Ideas?

Thanks for the help!

I want to try something here, I think that the dual monitor part is screwing my instructions up. Can anyone with a working dual monitor setup give me some screen shots of the instructions I posted? Even just the Displays screen would help.

Thanks!

Ok, so Never mind my last post. I was able to hook a CRT monitor up to the machine, and found that I was actually sitting in the "You need to restart your machine. Please press and hold the power button.. Blah blah.."

So, I went a head and re-installed, and eventually found out that I didnt have the "newest" kernel installed, so I went ahead and used the auto-installer from here: semthex Kernel Installer

I then went and followed the link that macgirl posted here, and installed the Natit kext from there, and once again, got the "You must reboot your machine.. blah blah.."

What an I doing wrong? I would really like to get this machine up and running. Is it a problem with the FX1400 card not supported?

Thanks for all the help.
