x2PhaNToM
Hi@all I have a problem with my onboard graphics. When i use the AppleIntel830/915 extensions i get a screen like this at the login prompt: click! When i remove the AppleIntel830 and 915 kexts an boot in normal mode everything works fine except QE. ATM i have just the AppleIntelIntegrated kext in the Extensions folder, and can boot in normal mode. I'm using tiger x86 10.4.3 on a Acer Travelmate 4052LMi [1.6 GHz P-M, 512 MB RAM, 60 GB HDD, native install from generic DVD and update to 10.4.3] Maybe someone knows the solution for my problem. THX! cya Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4152-problems-with-855gm-and-kexts/ Share on other sites

x2PhaNToM
The OSx86 loader shows me 15MB of VRAM. 2 or 3 weeks ago QE worked for a while, after a crash it didn't anymore. Then i reinstalled OSX natively and it didn't work again. I don't know what to do now, to get it to work. Justin R.
OK, before I had the same problem as you did, and I recently tried the method that I did, and I got the same error, but I used the normal method and it works. Quartz Extreme doesn't work though. I would like to figure out how to get Quartz Extreme to work, but I am happy that everything else is working. Mine shows 31MB dedicated to my video card. cnav
yeah it work but without any appleintel* file only with integred it is not support qe and divx xvid movies going really slowly so any opengl support is needed If u have any sugestion how to do it correctly with qe support please post Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4152-problems-with-855gm-and-kexts/#findComment-26895 Share on other sites
punkxdead
I have the same screen on a HP Pavilion ze4900 laptop. It shows 31MB allocated as well, using VESA 3.0 I would love to get QuartzExtreme working, but all of the usual tricks have resulted in that screen and a forced reboot. I have edited kexts to no avail, and booting into windows first (for ram allocation?) makes no difference. I have tried the kexts from the darwin disc also, but again the same garbled screen. However I have never seen the "big blue pixel" screen that other mention when using a 855GM chipset, only the green and pick half-distorted screen. x2PhaNToM
Did you try to boot only with the AplleIntelIntegrated.kext in the Extensions folder? Does OSX boot correctly without any boot parametres? cya Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4152-problems-with-855gm-and-kexts/#findComment-27089 Share on other sites
cnav
yeap it works allways, but all this topic is for QE support intel 852/855 users need that i mean 0x3852 users Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4152-problems-with-855gm-and-kexts/#findComment-27173 Share on other sites
punkxdead
me too. My system boots fine with only AppleIntelIntegrated Kext (with the .plist edited) Everthing works on my system but QE and CI. (i.e. Wireless NIC, NIC, Sound, just not my 0x3852 w/ QE) The edited 830 kext caused the funny screen and lockup. My system requires no special boot perimeters either. Without editing the 830 kext my system just simply locks up altogether. I would love to see OpenGL working on my laptop. x2PhaNToM
Did you managed to get QE working, or does ist just boot up in normal mode with the AppleIntelIntegrated.kext? cya Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4152-problems-with-855gm-and-kexts/#findComment-27416 Share on other sites
Fivern
I have the exact same laptop as you x2phantom.. Because the graphics card only allocates 16MB RAM at startup, I need to start WinXP first so that 64MB are allocated. Then do a restart and boot into MacOS. Then QE works fine. It doesn't look like Acer has a BIOS update to allocate the 64MB in the BIOS... x2PhaNToM
Can you post your kext's? With mine extensions it doesn't seem to work for me. Have you modified other system files or something like that? jthunder
I am also having the same problem with an ASUS P4P800-MX (i865G chipset). With the 830 and 915 kexts enabled I get the big blocky blue screen problem. With only the intelintegrated kext it boots fine but no QE. I allocated the max memory to the video in the bios (64mb). Still no change. I think that all of the 8XX chipsets with integrated intel graphics are probably close to the same when it comes to initializing memory and getting QE, so hopefully we can find a solution soon. cnav
yup but it is only temporaly solution, Windows turn your memory in to 64mb mode And without shuting down it stay in defaults setings in cache. We need solution without cheating i don't use windows any many users want to use only mac os x without any m$ operating system So we're still waiting for any solutions and keep trying to make it by ourselfs. x2PhaNToM
Maybe it is possible to code a kernel extension that is loaded by the kernel at bootup (before it launches Aqua), that allocates the 64MB of VRAM. Or maybe a Windows-Driver-Wrapper for the onboard graphics. cya, have to go to school now Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4152-problems-with-855gm-and-kexts/#findComment-27571 Share on other sites
