Yotam
If so, can you tell me what filename should I look for? Any other related info? (I currently have the deadmoo 10.4.1 version installed, don't want to lose configurations I have on it). Thanks, Yotam Edited February 5, 2007 by Yotam
munky
Afaik, not a chance in hell. Your best bet would be to install to a different disk or partition and then move all your stuff over. If anyone knows otherwise, please feel free to correct me, but im fairly certain you're out of luck, as 10.4.1 is just too old. I guess (if you have compatible hardware - ie SSE3 intel etc) you could always try installing the 10.4.8 combo installer with pacifist and then replacing the kernel etc before you reboot, but realistically i think you'd be far better off starting from scratch. Yotam
Hi munky, thanks for your reply. I can install it from scratch, I understand that it's too complicated to try keep the configs. I don't have any particular important files to keep. The thing is that I'm a newbie, so I need some really basic assistance. I would really appreciate your help and answers to the following questions: (My computer specs below) 1. How can I find the correct image that I have to download? There are many fakes, let me know how to find the right one. 2. I don't have SSE3. Will applications run on my SSE2 CPU (like they run now, with Maxxuss patch)? 3. Can I at all install OSX and expect it to work properly with the following specs? If not, what would you recommend to change/add, without spending too much? Specs: VIA mainboard P4PB266E with onboard VIA Rhine III NIC, VIA AC97 Sound Card Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.4GHz (Supports SSE2) 640MB DDR-RAM Inno3D nVidia Geforce 4 MX-440SE Vesa v3.0 64MB AGP Additional Realtek RTL8193 NIC (That works with 10.4.1) LCD Analog Monitor Hyundai ImageQuest LM1510A (If it's important...) And sure, any additional information will be also appreciated. Thank you so much! Yotam
imom
I hope someone answers your questions. I am also at a loss to know which 10.4.8 installer to try. The reason I installed deadmoo was because I found a guide which gave explicit names and even checksums to allow me to be sure of every step I was taking. I haven;t seen anything like this for anything later than deadmoo.
