vizual.menace
DELL Latitude 120L (10.4.8) ** After each fix you should delete "/System/Library/Extensions.kextcache" and "/System/Library/Extensions.mkext" repair permissions then reboot so that if you have a problem with one of the fixes you know which one it is." ** FIXES 1. Dell 1370 WLAN (wireless) I have attached my kext file that needs to be placed inside the Extensions folder inside the zip is also a file called NetworkInterfaces.plist, place that file in "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/" 2. Broadcom Ethernet I have attached my kext file that needs to be placed inside the IONetworking family.kext /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins/ Replace the AppleIntel8255x.kext in that folder with the one that I have attached 3. Sigmatel 9200 (audio) Download the zip attachment. Drag the "Stac9200_Dell_6400" text file on to the app icon. Wait for it to complete and reboot. Much thanks to Taruga for this fix, Great work!!! 4. GMA 900 (video) remove all the 950 kexts in the extensions folder install gma900 package off of dvd repair permissions reboot after reboot you will get a message that AppleIntel915.kext was not installed properly open terminal... cd /system/Library/Extensions sudo Chmod -R 755 AppleIntel915.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel AppleIntel915.kext sudo kextload AppleIntel915.kext reboot it should work now CI/QE supported 5. Battery Status In the attached zip "BatteryStatus.zip" take the file "PowerManagement.bundle" and place in "/System/Library/SystemConfiguration/" AppleIntel8255x.kext.zip Battery_Status.zip Sigmatel_9200__sound_.zip Dell_1370_mPCI__wlan_.zip Edited February 8, 2007 by B.j. walterav
Good summup, but I still have a couple of questions ;-) Do you have multiple monitors working? "vga output as secondary monitor" Can your system sleep / wake? Is the cpu slower on battery for powersaving? Is the sound coming out of the headphone jack to? or only onboard speakers? is the mic working? Final question... which osx version did you load with what extras / kernel /changes... Final question... which osx version did you load with what extras / kernel changes... Multiple monitors yes, I should have also stated that I use the paperclip trick. My sytem has no problem with sleep and wake. CPU does get slower when using battery battery wise I usually get about 2 hrs. sound works for the head phone jack and onboard speakers. I only thing I havent tested would be the mic. I dont have a mic to plugin to test it. USB headphones and mic works. I used Jas 10.4.8 sse2 sse3 betav2 with the 8.8.1 semthex kernel that came with it. On install I only selected the sse2 intel patches I hope that answered your questions Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41154-dell-latitude-120l-fully-working/#findComment-297457 Share on other sites

walterav
You mentioned about broadcom ethernet card and the driver is for Intel, that is ok ? see 4 Well I tried to install this weekend... With jass1048amdintelsse2sse3 pff1 pv1 release 4,37gb During installation Don't Check the GMA900 support, only 1044 loginwindow and intelsse2sse3 option. After installation connect a monitor or do paperclip trick. 1 install gma900 package 2 hda audiopatcher 3 wireless 4 ethernet it didn't work for me I gonna search for a broadcom driver... seems that 1046 ionetworking must be the one else everything works!!! wireless/video/usb/sound, no mic... walterav
4 ethernet it didn't work for me I gonna search for a broadcom driver... seems that 1046 ionetworking must be the one Ethernet solution!!! The intelkext wasn't working, well there seems no 1047,1046,1045 version of the ionetworking family with a bcm440 kext, so i found one in the 1044 install dvd, Don't touch the rest only replace the bcm440 kext with the old version! within the IONETWORKING.kext ofcourse!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Than ethernet works... If airport is not working anymore, than drag the airport adapter in the nerwork preference pane to the second position and delete the non working intel ethernet adapter, and drag broadcom pci ethernet to first position. !!!BTW sleep is not working for me anymore!!! B.J. Do you have a working AppleDVDplayer? Because apple DVD player only gives sound and no picture? VLC player is working... walterav
For the people that DON'T have a "intel855 ethernet wired NIC", but a broadcom bcm440x wired NIC ,this is the kext to use, the one from 10.4.4 It has been used on a dell inspiron 1300, with OSX 10.4.8/9 that had broadcom wireless and wired based nics"THIS driver is not for the wireless but for the wired" FIRST Delete old listend not working ethernet cards "grayed out" from the network preference pane menu, DON'T DELETE your airport if it is working for you. SECOND replacing the kext... "don't forget to remove the 2 kexts caches... "" one directory before the extensions folder"" don't remember names... otherwise the system keeps using the old kext restart drag your ethernet to the first place in the network option menu, so airport is listend under it... than airport works again... marksman7328 ...the kext was already posted, but it needed to be placed within 'inside' the ionetworking.kext now you got the whole deal... Silenthalo
Thought it may be of note to mention that i have successfully got 10.4.11 running on the 120L with all the fixes mentioned above. Only things not currently working are Mic input, and the system will not wake from Sleep. Install was XxX's most recent 10.4.11 Distro with no EFi, 8.9 Universal kernel, and SSE2 fixes. Afterward, doing the same fixes listed here gave me a fully working 120L in 10.4.11 with iLife 08' and everything running just fine. QE/CI works here as well, and everything is extremely responsive. I will upload any of my kexts that you need if someone wants to give it a shot. rich568117
Great walkthru! I actually used this about a year ago to get this working on an old Dell laptop I had thought was a paperweight, and it is now our main computer! My question though, has anyone successfully installed Leo on this machine? I think I may attempt it tonight, but was kinda wondering if someone else has tried and if it is even worth my time!
