Guest IanP
I see people asking how to make the rounded corners in SketchUp. Here is how: Create the base rectangle shape (Image 1) Create a line crossing the corner (Image 2) From the vertices of that line, draw two lines that head along the Z axis to the other part of the rectangle (Image 3) On the bottom side, draw a line from the ends of the two lines you just drew (Image 4) Delete the original corner edges (Image 5) Create 2 arches on the top side of the new bevel and the bottom side. Make sure it is on a tangent with the rectangles edges (Image6) Do this for each and every corner of the rectangular prism (tip:copy and paste) (Image 7) Draw the shape, on the face of the rectangle, that you want to "wrap around" (Image 8) Select the edges that the shape will wrap around (Image 9, note that the edges I selected are not shown, it is just the whole top ring of edges) Select the Follow Me tool (Tools> Follow me) Click the face of the shape you just made from step 8. It should wrap around the rectangle (Image 10) Viola! Rounded edges. This doesn't have to be used on a rectangle, mind you. You can delete the leftover edges after. rathalos
actually there is a simpler step to create a rounded edge..... speaking from about 1yr plus of sketchup experience.... 1) create your box 2) at the corner of the box, use the curve tool and draw your round edge line 3) use the extrude tool and push the corner all the way down to the bottom 4) viola, your rounded corner appears!
