mkprk
Ive just installed OS x86 on my computer and everything seems to be working fine except for the sound. The computer is a eMachines T5026, Im not sure what it uses for sound but I know its on-board and Ive disabled front panel audio in the bios. Is there anything I can do or is my on-board sound just not compatible. O, I also installed the 10.4.1 update, if that matters...
Justin R.
Do you have AC97 audio? If so, could you possibly post your hardware and vendor ID numbers, I would be more then happy to help if I could get this information.

kankraka
I've got the same issue. Everything but sound works (well, and networking, but I've yet to try all the network cards I have kicking around. And I kinda wanna be able to go wireless (D-Link AirPlus DWL-520+)) Anyways, it's an onboard Intel 82801BA/BAM AC'97 on an MSI 845 Pro Rev 1. The soundcard in your notebook is working (I have the same) if you delete the ATI kext to boot without -x http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=452&hl=

DrJägermeister
yeah, but i have hp nc4000 with m-audio ac97 (device id is 5451) and sound doesn't work :/ The nc4000 and the nc6000 is not the same hardware (but a nc8000 is the same as nc6000, just faster). Do you tried the audio wiki for your sound? http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Audio I can see via lspci that's not an Intel sound card in your nc4000 so maybe it's not supported lspci nc6000 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corp. 82855PM Processor to I/O Controller (rev 03) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corp. 82855PM Processor to AGP Controller (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB (ICH4) USB UHCI #1 (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB (ICH4) USB UHCI #2 (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB (ICH4) USB UHCI #3 (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB (ICH4) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 03)00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corp. 82801BAM/CAM PCI Bridge (rev 83) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corp. 82801DBM LPC Interface Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corp. 82801DBM (ICH4) Ultra ATA Storage Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB (ICH4) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.6 Modem: Intel Corp. 82801DB (ICH4) AC'97 Modem Controller (rev 03) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV350 [Mobility Radeon 9600 M10] 02:04.0 Network controller: Intel Corp. Jamie
I don't have the AppleAC97blah.kext file. I have searched and found several other audio kext's but obviously since they're different directories, they have different contents. I've searched and found other people also said they didn't have random files, but nothing was figured out. Anything? Edit: I figured out how to get it to work and made a thread "I hacked me some sound" explaining what I did.
