Daave
I recently formatted my computer and ended up with a few bugs. I have no sound when I try to plan an mp3 file with winamp i get an error msg saying: "Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration. Error Code: 88780078". My screen starts to lag when I scroll down on IE (it makes a flip book effect). I also lag when I hover a window around the screen. I never had these prolems before formating. Can someone help? __________________ Proactiv Solution world cup cricket shirts Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40875-xp-bugs-after-formating/ Share on other sites
robotskip
Have you tried installing the proper drivers ? Since you formatted I assume it's a fresh XP install so you may have 'forgotten' to install the correct drivers. Metrogirl
Absolutely - robotskip is right.. The 'flip-book' effect on scrolling is a sure sign that the video driver is defaulting to a featureless VGA device instead of what you should be using. Find out your hardware config, visit each manufacturer's site in turn and download the right drivers. You will want drivers for each device you have. Even if the XP installation gave you working drivers for some hardware, they are probably outdated versions. So collect yourself new drivers for Video, Audio, Modem, Network and Wireless cards, any hot buttons on the keyboard, Power control, Chipset, mouse, trackpoint or touchpad, LCD display if you have one, USB and Firewire hosts, RAID, motherboard-specific things like fan speed control or clock rate settings. There's a huge number of things that you may need. Next time, read my personal guide to reinstalling XP -HERE- for a heads-up on one method of doing things!
