I have the newest Jas 10.4.8 SSE2 Intel AMD Release from demonoid....

I'm using GRUB bootloader, which works fine.

My partition is Journaled (using the disk utility manager that came with the release).

AMD FX-60 and GO7800GTX 256mb, 2gigs of ram (yes, this is a laptop).

Essentially, when I try to boot Mac OSX it spouts a bunch of errors/dialogues then after its fnished doing that it just stays on a black screen (no cursor, no blinking underscore) doing nothing.

I've tried reinstalling twice to no avail.

The installation said something towards the end about pressing F* and -v -s then ./patcher 10.4.8.AMD.CPUID.txt but i have NO idea where i'm supposed to do this??? I'm pretty new to all this, so please excuse my ignorance.

If someone can walk me through what I'm supposed to do I'd be extremely grateful :).

Thanks,

Mike

ok so i downloaded the Jas release with the integrated patch and Defiants diskutil fix. I used the Disk util to erase my drive to Mac OS X Extended Journaled, and I went along the installation. I installed the right AMD drivers, X11, and the titan Nvidia support (i have a GO7800gtx). Now when I boot up the computer I can actually see the grey apple logo and the circular progress bar loads for maybe 5 seconds then the screen flickers and it goes to the same black screen as before. This time, i can actually hear some music and sound though, just nothing but black on the screen. Keep in mind this is a laptop so I cannot disconnect / reconnect the monitor or anything. Running it in verbose mode gives me the same results, black screen with sound, this time none of the errors from before show up though. Should I try to go through the install again without the Titan nvidia drivers? Or should I try the Tubgirl release?

i did that and it said "family specific mounting failed" and certain parts related to the GFx card. So i tried reinstalling without the nvidia drivers, and sure enough, it worked. Mac OSX now boots fine :). However, i noticed that my resolution is REALLY low (1024x780). Besides resolution, what else am I losing by not having installed the drivers for the GFx card? Will performance be noticeably lower? Can I install the drivers now? If I can, where can I get them?

Also my iCal application doesnt seem to work, anyway to fix this?

Besides that the only things not working at this point are networking, my integrated camera, my tv tuner and my wifi card. Is there a webpage that indexes all the hackintosh drivers?

Oh and also, what key is the command key on a hackintosh? I tried the windows key to no avail. Is there a way to map the command key to the windows key?

well that was short lived. I tried installing the macvidia drivers and now i get the black screen of death "please hold the power button..." at boot. Should I go for tubgirls release? What are the differences...what functionality will i lose?

I already said that when I try to install the drivers from the Jas 10.4.8 release on install i get nothing but a black screen. Installing without the drivers fixes the problem but I'm stuck with a {censored} resolution. If I try to install the macvidia drivers after that I get a black screen that says to restart my computer on boot.

I have a GO 7800GTX on a Clevo D900k...

I'm going to go ahead and try the tubgirl release. What are the disadvantages to using Tubgirls release over the latest Jas release?

you dont happen to have a nvidia nforce board in that laptop do you?

also , its F8 not F*. think Jas made a bit of a typo :) but that command doesnt work anyway, as the txt file he refers to is missing?
