Sound dropping out every so often

Hi,

 

it's pretty much that, sound works for a while then drops out, then works again, i'm using Adium and the sounds all of a sudden dont work. Also PREY demo there is no sound.

 

Any ideas?, I'm using onboard sound from my nForce3 mobo and tried deleting sound preferences but only work for a while.
