OK,

When I boot up OSX (-v mode of course) it hangs at "display: vram [C0000000:10000000]". I'm reading around that this has something to do with my ATI Radeon 9600 Pro, and advice on this site and others insists that you're to delete the ATI kext files. How on earth do I do this?

I've tried the sudo -s command, found the kext files i need to remove but i have no idea how to remove them.

i've tried rmdir ATI*.kext in the folder, but I constantly get "Read-only file system" errors, which is strange because i'm logged in as root.

Does anyone know the exact proceedure to remove them? And of course any other steps that i'm being a goof and forgetting.

Load into safe mode (enter -x at the darwin screen). Delete from there. You'll have to enter your password to authenticate, but otherwise it should delete.

I didn't even know tha tthere were restrictions as i couldn't load into regular mode, as i had the ATI driver clash. Just select all the ATI files, and drag them straight to the trash.
