foenix
Hi I was wondering if the wonderful team could help me with a problem I'm having installing the JaS 10.4.8 install disk which is patched. I install Os X perfectly onto a blank formated drive, but after i restart the machine, it doesn't seem to want to boot from the hard drive. I can hear and see the hard drive booting but it just doesn't want to start up the operating system. To check I loaded up G-Parted and noticed that the MacOS installer is creating a fat32 partition which it is flagging as the active partition. After deleting this and flagging the hfs partition as boot, the same problem occurs Its just a black screen with a flashing underscore Any help in this situation would be greatly appriciated Thank you Jp Specs: P4 Northbridge 2.4 Ghz Asus P4P800S-X 512 Ram Gefore 5200 Maxtor IDE hard drive 40 Gb

Bruce Wang
The disk utility won't work correctly during installation unless patched with defiant ppf. foenix
Thank you very much for your help Bruce. I solved it after i saw that, but formatting using the HFS setting instead of HFS Journaled setting. JP
s-anarchy
Thanks for this guys. I have this EXACT same problem as of last night and now I can *hopefully* fix it by reinstalling without Journaled turned on.... Thanks for the tip!
foenix
Hey, as an added step, use the erase tool to erase the drive to the non-journaled, then after that finishes use the partition tab to make only one partition. That will fix the problem. Hope it works for you!
