Want to install osx86. I don't have a dvd burner to install from is there an alternative?

Can anyone give me some feedback on what HDD space i would need if i partitioned my hard drive.

what i got:

Latitude D600

1.4 GHz

40 GB

512 MB

EDIT: I know it sounds stupid, but it would be easier for me.

you can do it with VMware and Daemon Tools, its considerable slower on the install, but itl work. look in hte tutorials forum. there is a GIANT topic dedicated to that. it shoudl be stickied.

as for hdd space, give about 6 GB alone for the full install and i woudl do at least 8GB if you just want to experiment. if you actually plan to use it, i recoment 10 GB or bigger, just so you can download stuff and not have to worry about storing your files elsewhere.

@sadiekiller

thanks for the direction. doesn't seem to hard. as you saw i only have so much space, but i'm willing to split my hard drive for it. i'll take a look if i can undo this. sounds like a good idea.

@GBK.Xscape

i have a 30GB ipod. that sounds better, but i already put all my music, video, etc. on there so i only have 10.2G of free space. i use my ipod instead of my HDD to store music so i can install osx86 on this laptop (but i could put this material onto my comp to use more space on my ipod for osx86). are there topics already here on that or do you have some links? mostly worried about interference with ipod functions.

side note... this would be my first time using mac os since wagon trail days. looking to buy a macbook/pro this year so this is my 'dry run' with os x.

thanks for the quick feedback
