Jaco
Hi I installed Jas 10.4.7 from the install DVD and it work beautifully on my Dell E1705 (no sound, no wireless but everything seems to be fine). I install all the JAS patched except for the AMD ones on the DVD. SigmaTel Stac9200 did not work so I got the Turtle Beach Amigo USB sound card and that fixed my audio. For wireless I replaced the Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG card with Dell 1490 PCI Express Card and my machine picked that up as Airport. I could not be happier with my MacDell , just needed to apply some tweak for performance but everything I needed worked. I imported movies from my Camcorder into iMovie via Firewire, etc... Itunes worked.... Then after about a week I went to system options and just wanted to make sure I run at my full resolution 1920x1200, and the display screen came up for a sec, I am not sure if I hit the wrong key by accident, but the next thing I know I have the blue screen. I have rebooted, fully formatted the harddrive and re-install but I can not get pass this. Install works fine but as soon as drive boots up I get all the weird flickering boxes and I am stuck. A way around it, seems like if I start with -x (Safe mode) but then it seems I have no Network then so that is not a work-a-round or should I have network in Safe mode? Have anybody run into this before, it just does not make any sense to me that it work for a few times in the beginning, and after install and then all of a sudden it's not working. And it have not change anything. If anybody can help me to correct the display so that it can startup in normal mode and I can use my system, I would be very greatfull to you - I was so close in formatting my Windows drive just before this happed because I got everything I needed - Office for Mac, my VPN for the office and then the big crash and stuck ever since. Jaco
Joe75, I have the Intel 82945GM Video Card integrated with the motherboard. I finally got it figured out - I must have installed to many patches that I did not needed and that messed up my machine - so only install what you need. I install 10.4.6 from Jas 10.4.6 Install DVD and then just applied the following patches 1) Jas.10.4.7.Combo.update.pkg 2) 10.4.7.Intel.SSE3.pkg 3) 10.4.7.GMA900.Support.pkg (This was required to fix the display) 4) SoundBlaster.USB.Audio.Support.pkg - to make my Turtle Beach USB Soundcard work System is working again! Waiting for the new JAS 10.4.8 with new kernel and will install that. joe75
System is working again! Waiting for the new JAS 10.4.8 with new kernel and will install that. If you have any problems after installing new 4.8, you may need official OpenGL Framework, let me know and I'll help you out.
