Gcrumpets
I have just bought a 15" titanium powerbook, the battery is old and used. when full it holds charge for about 2.5hours so ive been thinking about replacing it so i can get some longer battery life but ive notcied that when i leave it asleep for more than a few hours, when i awake it the battery says 0%, then with in a few minutes it says 100%, and its charged, i think that is odd especially since its plugged in when i leave it (with a full battery) and shouldnt be using battery power. but heres my problem, today when i came home from work the battery said 0%, previously it was charged and i was only way for about 4.5 hours (and it was plugged in) that was about 3 hours ago and it still says 0% and "Calculating Time until Full"....so i dont think its charging, not that it should have to, as it was plugged in and should still be charged....my power cable is green at first then turns orange (not sure what green and orange indicate) so im wondering if my battery is dead or is my charger the problem, the silver thing on the end of it is bent and if i jiggle it or tiwst it some times the light color will change. hope someone can help out, thanks. The Masked Muchacho
I think the first thing you should try is a PMU reset, the problems you have sound like thats what it needs. disconnect the power and remove the battery then hold the power button for 5 seconds, the PMU is now reset. put the battery back in and see how it goes. full details can be found in this apple document Also i had a bent connector on my old ibook G3, just take some care and bend it back into shape, shouldnt be too hard. Hope this helps. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40291-powerbook-chargebattery-problem/#findComment-288686 Share on other sites
Gcrumpets
thanks for the tip, i tried it and it worked but then i had the same problem once again but this time i fixed it my given the power cable a twist so it was slightly out of jack, for some reason that worked and the battery jumped from 0% to 100 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40291-powerbook-chargebattery-problem/#findComment-289392 Share on other sites
