Empireal
Hi, everything has installed fine (I think), the installer worked, I have no successfully installed 10.4.7 on my External HD drive, after partitioning it etc. I rebooted my system like I was told to do, but got the EBIOS error message, I think its to do with the disc heating up, because 10 minutes later (after it had been shut down) it worked fine, but I booted from my External HD drive. I get this image: http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/4362/img05051rd9.jpg The blue bar hasn't moved in 30 minutes! Does anyone else get this - is there anyway of curing this problem? I've done everything correctly, but its a pain that now this happens! I haven't installed it using VMWare, and installed it directly onto the HD, no virtual machine {censored} involved. Thanks for any help in advance! EDIT: Forgot to mention that the pointing device doesn't seem to work with it either, as I cannot move the mouse. zackint0sh
After it is shutdown for awhile and cool, does it boot from the internal drive? If so, I suppose it could be a heat-related problem. I'd sooner guess issues w/ sata or ide though. A good idea is to boot w/ the "-v" flag and examine the text dumped to the screen. also, i'd try to search the forum for your motherboard (or chipset if you can't find mobo) and using same type of drive and see if others have seen the issue and found a solution. Empireal
Well, If I take the DVD out then I think it will just boot windows, from the internal drive. Now I can't even see my External drive in My Computer on my desktop though. I'm running on an AMD Sempron Mobile 3000+ @ 1.8ghz w. 1024MB Ram. I can't remember what type of drive it is, and I can't find out now because it doesn't show up in my computer! Bloody technology! Empireal
Update: I tried to get it to work by pressing F8, and -v and got the text dumped screen and here's what it looks like: http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/830/img05061sy4.jpg http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/2899/img05071ce3.jpg Very Frustrating! You'll notice that the most recent prompt is 'display: family specific matching fails' Does this mean its a graphics card issue? The thing hasn't got beyond this for hours, and so we're at the same stage I was in the previous post, but in text dump instead of loading screen. Has anyone ever encountered this before? Empireal
What's all this business about kext files, like here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...matching++fails How do you install them? erbic
"Display: Family specific matching fails" is nothing to worry about. My official, Apple-built MacBook Pro says that two or three times when I boot it in verbose. If I were you, I'd try to re-install Mac OS. Doesn't sound like you've done much at all with it, so you're not losing any data, just time. The problem with your Hackintos is that u probably picked wrong type of components for your machine. What I think happened was that u did not choose at all any of the components for your board. So It usually installs amd and intel packages and that is why your booting screen stuck at there. The result for this is: Go to 1) http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php find out what is your components. Is it a sse2 or sse3 2) Find your machine components list 3) Go to the installing setup again. 4) Go to http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page and find out if your components are suitable for the os that u are installing.. This time try to pick up only the packages that you really need! GL with overinstalling! Empireal
Hmmmmm, I re-installed it, like you said, but I get pretty much the same problem. In normal mode, I get exactly the same problem - blue bar hardly moves, then stops, and mouse pointer doesn't work. In verbose mode I get another error, it says that something is starting (i forget) , but then just freezes again. Ithen get this: http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/199/img05081va9.jpg About my comp: Its SSE, SSE2 & SSE3 and MMX & 3D Now etc. The Motherboard says "To be Filled by OEM" but is a ATI Xpress 200 (RS480) with a southbridge SB400. I don't know what any of this means! But I hope it means its possible to work.
