Hi everyone,

How are you? I am having big problems getting my wireless card to work with 10.4.8 Intel AMD SSE2 SSE3 DVD. I am trying to post as much information as I can.

I am using Gigabyte GN-WP01GT (Mini) PCI WLAN Card. It is running on Atheros AR5005GS Chipset.

I read through many forum and tried to modified all the plist files without any success.

I tried http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry238508 and

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=263367

Nothing seem working.

I also attacted files that I modified.

First one is info.plist. It is from /System/Library/Extensions

Second is within the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration (I can not find Networkinterfaces.plist, so I modified preferences.plist)

And I also attach two images regarding my wireless network card.

Can anyone please help me I would like to go online....

you have to edit the info.plist of the AppleAtheros5XXX.kext

you can find that by opening finder and selecting your HD> System> Library> Extensions> IO80211Famliy.kext

once you get to the IO80211Family.kext control-click or right click and show package contents> Contents> Plugins

then do the same. show package contents of the AppleAtheros5XXX.kext and then open up the info.plist in text edit

find this string:

>168c,XX</

and insert your's which is:

>168c,13</

then save it or save as and save it to the desktop as info.plist

now open terminal and type in: sudo -s

then you password (hit enter)

now type in:

sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext (hit enter)

sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext (hit enter)

Now type in:

diskutil repairPermissions / (hit enter)

let it do its thing now when its done. quit terminal then reboot

now if you get the airport diamond in the menubar, open System Preferences (you can do that from the apple menu)

now goto Network, if all went well a window should popup saying new port found : airport (click ok, then click apply now) then you have workin wireless

if not you have to change the bsd name of the airport from en1 to en0 in the networkinterfaces.plist found in:

your hd> Library> Preferences> SystemConfiguration> NetworkInterfaces.plist

do the edit in text edit then save it then do another: diskutil repairPermissions / (in terminal)

then reboot and try the Network Preference pane step again.

Thank you very much Diabolik. I modified everything, now my built in Ethernet card is working now, but my wireless card is still not working. I changed my networkinterfaces.plist from en1 to en0 and it still doesn't work. So I changed it back to en 1 and it still doesn't work. Only my wired network card is working at this stage.

Once again, thank you very much, do you have any more idea what is wrong with it?

Hi Everyone, I will not give up to get my Wireless Network Card working. But I am keep facing problems.

To make sure I did not modified any files that I shouldn't, I erase the harddisk and re-install the MacOS again.

I carefully follow steps by Diabolik, and this time it is getting a lot more better.

The Diamond shape for Airport came out on the top right corner of the screen.

I went to System Preferences and clicked on Network, there is no popup saying net port found.

I went back to change the bsd name of the airport from en0 to en1 in the networkinterfaces.plist, restarted computer and it is not working.

So, I changed the bsd name back from en1 to en0, restarted and it is not working.

I disabled the LAN network interface in BIOS and restarted computer, it is not working.

With disabled LAN network interface in BIOS I changed the networkinterfaces.plist to en1 again and it is not working.

Please anyone have any ideas how to get my network card working?

Thanks,

Irwin K.
