hackinthebox
Just completed a 10.4.8 install, got wireless, bluetooth, everything working, only my mobo's audio is dead. So, I bought a external usb soundblaster box, and installed 10.4.6 soundblaster drivers. Of course, now no usb drivers are working and everything boots up fine, but I cant use mouse or keyboard (bluetooth mouse, usb keyboard). Any way to "roll back" the drivers? How would I go about replacing the correct file to get usb working before boot up? I would appreciate any help....I would hate to have to reinstall just for a driver or two.......I had everything perfectly customized, it would be a shame. Prasys
you'll need to find the usb kexts from osx 10.4.8 and swap it back.....Next time when installing something from an older version , try to avoid installing usb kexts To overcome this , u might need to copy some kexts using macdrive or so back to the osx partition....or just a re install Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40060-installed-soundblaster-patch-now-usb-is-dead/#findComment-286328 Share on other sites
frizbot
Yeah, you need to change the drivers back, uninstall the USB Soundblaster stuff manually. Pacifist can tell you whats in the package. OS X has no proper uninstall feature. You say the 10.4.6 USB Soundblaster drivers, why not the ones that come with the release DVD? Please post your motherboard model, OS X86 release version, and the soundblaster specific model. That way you might get more help, or at least warn others of the incompatibility.
