Zulu.Walker Posted January 23, 2007 Share Posted January 23, 2007 Seeing you have a E6300 processor and DDR2-667, you could probably do a simple FSB bump to FSB333 (CPU at multi 7 (default), FSB at DDR333 (2x166) = 7x333 = 2.3GHz OC vs 1.86GHz stock). A little bump in vcore and vmem (not too much, just to be stable) may be needed, depending on the capabilities of your hardware, as well as adjustments to memory timing (if in doubt, leave it at auto). It's all done in BIOS, don't know much about your chipset and it's overclocking potentials, so that may limit your results. As with all overclocking, it reduces the total operating life of your components while offering *free* performance boost. If you change your components almost yearly, then hardware breaking down is not much of a problem. Higher overclocks require better cooling, and as always, overclocking is not supported officially so if you break (or burn) it... PS. Intel C2D procs are great overclockers, reports of E6300 normally overclock to FSB333 without any hitches, people have been getting as high as 3.2GHz (450+ FSB) on air cooling. Do some burn-in and stability tests to make sure it's not a liability to your day to day computing. I'm currently at 2.8GHz (7x400) on an E6300 and GA-965P-S3, better air-/liquid-cooling will push it further. PPS. I will not answer questions about terminologies. Should've known that by now. mifki Posted January 23, 2007 Share Posted January 23, 2007 you have to configure this in the BIOs if u want to use it in mac os. I have my e6300 at 2.62ghz, no extra voltage and running at stock temperatures. Look on google, it can help u more than us, even if u feel lost. MacOSMatt Posted January 24, 2007 Author Share Posted January 24, 2007 all the bios options look pretty tame, closest thing i could find was 'temp alert at 70,80 degs etc' .. mines running at arount 40-45degs celc at the moment, i really couldnt see much to change there =/ just the usual boot sequences etc. whats the general thing im looking for? If you don't see it, either there's a way to unlock it with keyboard shortcuts, you need a BIOS update, or your mobo just doesn't support manual settings. Read up on your mobo.
